Threshold - Based Camera Motion Characterization of MPEG Video

چکیده
Jae-Gon Kim et al. 269 ABSTRACTWe propose an efficient scheme for camera motion characterization in MPEG-compressed video. The proposed scheme detects six types of basic camera motions through threshold-based qualitative interpretation, in which fixed thresholds are applied to motion model parameters estimated from MPEG motion vectors (MVs). The efficiency and robustness of the scheme are validated by the experiment with real compressed video sequences.

Adaptive Methods for Motion Characterization and Segmentation of MPEG Compressed Frame Sequences
A fast and accurate method for scene change detection and classification of camera motion effects in MPEG compressed video is proposed. The method relies on adaptive threshold estimation and on the analysis and combination of various types of video features derived from motion and intensity information. This analysis is also applied for cleaning-up false shot boundaries due to camera motion eff...
متن کاملA New Unequal Error Protection Technique Based on the Mutual Information of the MPEG-4 Video Frames over Wireless Networks
The performance of video transmission over wireless channels is limited by the channel noise. Thus many error resilience tools have been incorporated into the MPEG-4 video compression method. In addition to these tools, the unequal error protection (UEP) technique has been proposed to protect the different parts in an MPEG-4 video packet with different channel coding rates based on the rate...
متن کاملEfficient Camera Motion Characterization for MPEG Video Indexing
In this paper, a novel approach to the camera motion analysis is proposed to index videos compressed in MPEG-1 or MPEG-2. Specifically, it fits the motion vectors in MPEG stream into the two-dimensional affine model to detect basic camera operations automatically. The proposed approach involves 1) the construction of motion vector fields (MVFs) by normalizing the types of motion vectors and fil...
متن کاملVideo Segmentation and Camera Motion Characterization Using Compressed Data
We address the problem of automatically extracting visual indexes from videos, in order to provide sophisticated access methods to the contents of a video server. We focus on two tasks, namely the decomposition of a video clip into uniform segments (shots), and the characterization of each shot by camera motion parameters. For the rst task we use a Bayesian classiication approach to detecting s...
متن کاملRobust Estimation of Camera Motion Using Optical Flow Models
The estimation of camera motion is one of the most important aspects for video processing, analysis, indexing, and retrieval. Most of existing techniques to estimate camera motion are based on optical flow methods in the uncompressed domain. However, to decode and to analyze a video sequence is extremely time-consuming. Since video data are usually available in MPEG-compressed form, it is desir...
